AN ORDINANCE appropriating the sum of $15,000 to the
Hotel/Motel Fund; and amending the 1998 Budget; making findings
and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, UPON REVIEW OF THE 1998
BUDGET, MAKES THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS:
FINDING ONE: Hotel/Motel Fund
Centrum provides marketing and promotion of off-season events for Port Townsend.
Centrum receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts which requires local
matching funds for 1998.
FINDING TWO: Hotel/Motel Fund
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee has recommended that Centrum receive matching
funds totaling $15,000 as a one-time match from the Hotel/Motel Fund reserve for its 1998
budget.
Whereas, the above findings are due to events which could not have reasonably been known
at the time of adoption of the 1998 Budget;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The sum of FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000) is hereby appropriated
as a supplement to the 1998 HOTEL/MOTEL FUND from ending fund balance reserve.
Section 2 There is hereby found and declared to be an emergency requiting the foregoing
appropriations to the 1998 budget.
