RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF '
PORT TOWNSEND DECLARING ITS INTENT TO PARTICIPATE
IN THE JEFFERSON COUNTY PLAN FOR SOLID WASTE MANAGE-
MENT AND AUTHORIZING THE PROPER OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE
AN AGREEMENT WITH'JEFFERSON COUNTY IN THE PREPARA-
TION OF THE REVISION AND UPDATING OF THE SOLID WASTE
PLAN, UNDER ALTERNATIVE NO. 3.
WHEREAS, under the provisions of R.C.W. 70.95.080 of the laws o£
the State of Washington, Jefferson County is responsible, in cooperation
with the various cities and towns located therein, for the preparation
of a coordinated comprehensive solid waste management plan, and,
WHEREAS, the said law further provides that each city shall:
1. Prepare its own plan and submit it to the county for integration
into the county plan, or,
2. Enter into an agreement with Jefferson County, providing for
joint participation in the preparation of a plan, or,
3. Authorize the county to prepare a plan for inclusion into the
county plan of the City of Port Townsend, and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners has indicated
that they are preparing to submit an application to the State of Washing-
ton for financial assistance for revising and updating their Solid Waste
Management Plan, which requires resolutions from all cities and towns in-
dicating the alternative selected, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of Port Townsend has discussed the three
alternatives available and have dteremined that the best alternative for
the City would be No. 3; NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN
REGULAR MEETING ASSEMBLED this ~7~ day of ~ 1982, as
follows:
1. That the City of Port Townsend hereby selects alternative No. 3
providing for the county to prepare a revised and updated plan
for inclusion into the county "Solid Waste Management Plan" under
the provisions of R.C.W. 70.95.080 of the laws of the State of
Washington.

to cooperate with Jefferson County and do all things necessary
or expedient to implement the purpose and intention of this Reso-
