HomeMy WebLinkAbout2669 Property Tax Levy for 1999 ORDINANCE NO, 2669 AN ORDINANCE FIXING AND ADOPTING 1999 PROPERTY TAX LEVIES WHEREAS the City of Port Townsend has properly given notice of the public hearing held on November 23, 1998, to consider the City of Port Townsend's current expense budget for the 1999 calendar year, pursuant to RCW 84.55.120; and WHEREAS the City of Port Townsend, after hearing, and after duly considering all relevant evidence and testimony presented, has determined that the City of Port Townsend requires an increase in property tax revenue ' from the previous year, in addition to the increase in the value of state-assessed property, in order to discharge the expected expenses and obligations of the City of Port Townsend and in its best interest;, now therefore, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: An increase in the regular property tax levy, in addition to any amount resulting from the addition of new construction and improvements to property and any increase in the value of state-assessed property, is hereby authorized for the 1999 levy in amounts as follows: Section 1. There is hereby levied upon all taxable property in the City of Port Townsend, for the year of 1999, the sum of $1,252,837.36 as a general tax levy, which is a percentage increase of 6% from the previous year. Section 2. There is hereby levied upon all of the taxable property in the City of Port Townsend, for the year of 1999, the sum of $139,864.20 to support Emergency Medical Services, which is a percentage increase of 6% from the previous year. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law. Read for the first, second and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a special meeting thereof, held this Twenty-third day of November, 1998. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The 1998 general property tax levy for collection in 1999 is $1,184,232 (the amount levied in 1997 for collection in 1998), plus~ increase of $71,053 which is an increase of six percent, plus an increase equal to the amount allowed under new construction provisions of RCW 84.55.010. Section 2. The 1998 Emergency Medical Services property tax levy for collection in 1999 is $132,209 (the amount levied in 1997 for collection in 1998), plus{in increase of $7,932 which is an increase of six percent, plus an increase equal to the amount allowed under new construction provisions of RCW 84.55.010. Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
