A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
WITH THE PORT OF PORT TOWNSEND, JEFFERSON
COUNTY, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AND THE
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL OF JEFFERSON
COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Economic Development Council of Jefferson
County is applying to the State of Washington for a Local
Development Matching Fund Grant to determine the desireability
of the development of Point Hudson as a conference-resort
facility, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that a conference-
resort facility within the city limits would help to encourage
more activity during traditional off-season times thereby some-
what alleviating economic hardships due to a present cyclical
tourist trade, and,
WHEREAS, it is considered desireable for the health and
welfare of the citizens of the City of Port Townsend that the
city agree to work jointly with the Port of Port Townsend, the
Port Townsend- East Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the
Jefferson County Commissioners, and the Economic Development
Council of Jefferson County to study the feasibility of a
conference-resort center, examine development/financing options,
and prepare a project proposal that can be effectively
marketed to the development community, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that
the Mayor be authorized and directed to enter i~to the
annexed agreement with the above mentioned entities, i
