HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-017City of Port Townsend tion Number ~G-I~ A resolution authorizing application for funding assistance for an out- doo~ recreation project to the Interagency Committee. for Outdoor Recreation as provided by the Marine Recreation Land Act. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the urban area which ident- ifies Pope Marine Park as a community park on the waterfront of Port Townsend; and; WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of out- door recreational facilities df local~public bodies; and; WHEREAS,' the City Council of the City of Port Townsend considers it in the best interest to further develop Pope Marine Park to reconstruct and enhance existing facilities; - NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of 'the City of Port Townsend, Washington, o o That the mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for funding assis- stance. That any fund assistance so received be used in the Pope Marine Park on the waterfront of the City of Port Townsend. That the City's share of the project will be derived from those monies held by the City and known as the Jackson Bequest. The City of Port Townsend does hereby certify that the city is responsible to support all non-cash commitments to the local share should they not materialize. That amy property acquired with financial aid through_the Inter- agency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in per- petuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation, and any affected federal agency, and That this resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. That adequate notification has been given and opportunity pro- vided for public input and that published notices have identif- ied affected flood plains and/or wetlands, if applicable.
