HomeMy WebLinkAbout86-033RESOLUTION N0.~-33 A RESOLUTION CLOSING 56TH STREET WH~CH~LIES ADJACENT TO LOTS '6A 8 INCLUSIVE, OF BLOCK 37, MONTANA ADDITION TO THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, AND PROVIDING FOR-NOTICE AND BARRICADES AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, that portion of 56th Street in the City of Port Townsend, lying adjacent to Lots 6 and 8 of Block 37, Montana Addition to the City of Port Townsend, has not been opened by the City and has not been graded, paved, graveled or gtherwise improved, and WHEREAS, said portion of 56th Street is not presently desirable for vehicular traffic of any kind until such time that the street is improved for use to the City's specifications, and WHEREAS, the owners of the properties abutting said portion of 56th Street have not formed a local improvement district or otherwise undertaken to improve said street or pay the costs therefor, and WHEREAS, the owners of properties adjacent to said portion of 56th Street have other adequate access to and from their respective properties, and the closing of 56th Street will not adversely restrict access to or from affected properties, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED- BY the City Council for the City of Port Townsend that, pursuant to Chapter 47.48, Revised Code of Washington, that portion of 56th Street within the City described above be and the same is hereby ordered closed. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk, Public Works Director and Police Chief of the City be and are hereby directed to carry out this order by notice, publication and erection of suitable barricades in the manner provided for by RCW 47.48. BE'IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this order shall become effective immediately upon such date as provided for by RCW 47.48 following notice and publication as provided for in said law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this order of closure be and shall continue in effect for a period of one (1) year from its effective date, unless sooner terminated by the City Council for the City or unless sooner improvement and development of said street is completed in accordance with city street specifi- cations, whichever should occur first.
