OF PORT TOWNSEND DECLARING x
ITS INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN x
THE JEFFERSON COUNTY PLAN FOR x
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AND x
AUTHORIZING THE PROPER x
OFFICIALS TO EXECUTE AN x
AGREEMENT WITH JEFFERSON x
COUNTY IN THE PREPARATION OF x
THE REVISION AND UPDATING x
OF THE SOLID WASTE PLAN, x
UNDER ALTERNATIVE NO. 3. x

WHEREAS, under the provisions of R.C.W. 70.95.080 of the
laws of the State of Washington, Jefferson County is
responsible, in cooperation with the various cities and towns
located therein, for the preparation of a coordinated
comprehensive solid waste management plan, and,
WHEREAS, said law further provides that each city shall:
1. Prepare and deliver to the County Auditor of the county in
which it is located its plan for its own solid waste
management for integration into the comprehensive county
plan; or
2. Enter into an agreement with the County, pursuant to which
the City shall participate in preparing a 3oint city-
county plan for solid waste management; or
3. Authorize the county to prepare a plan for the City's
solid waste management for inclusion in the comprehensive
county plan; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has indicated
that they are preparing to submit an application to the State
of Washington for financial assistance for revising and
updating their Solid Waste Management Plan, which requires
resolutions from all cities and towns indicating the
alternative selected, and,
That the City of Port Townsend hereby selects
alternative No. 3 providing for the county to prepare
a revised and updated plan for inclusion into the
county "Solid Waste Management Plan" under the
provisions of R.C.W. ?0.95.080 of the laws of the
State of Washington.
That the ~99R~A; C~/~/U6- is hereby
authorized to cooperate with Jefferson County and do
all things necessary or expedient to implement the
purpose and intention of this Resolution so that
Jefferson County takes full advantage of financial
aid from the State of Washington, as provided
therein.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted by the City Council of
the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting
this 6~'M day of ~F~'~~ , 1988.
