A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING TRANSFER OF CERTAIN
RECORDS TO THE WASHINGTON STATE ARCHIVE
WHEREAS, The City of Port Townsend is required by Washington State Law
to keep certain records permanently, and
WHEREAS, certain permanent records are deteriating and may soon be l,ost
due to their aqe and condition, and,
WHEREAS, there is not an adaquate city oWned storage area available
within the city limits of Port Townsend, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, THAT: The City Clerk-Treasurer be authorized and directed
to transfer those records of permanentna~re to the custody and jurisdiction
of the Washington State Archives with the understanding that the records will
become and remain the property of the State of Washington and shall be stored,
referenced and disposed of only in accordance with the laws of the State of
Washington, the regulation of the State and Local Records Committees, the
policies and procedures of the Division of Archives and Records Management,
and the instructions of the State Archivist.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT: The City Clerk-Zreasurer i~ here and hereby
authorized and directed to have the above records~'microfilmed so that a copy
of the record can be easily referenced and copied locally
PASSED by the Port Townsend City Council' on
,1988.
