A RESOLUTION of the city Council of the City of Port
Townsend authorizing the Mayor to submit an application
to the State of Washington for a Local Development
Matching Fund Grant in support of the Port Townsend
Gateway Project.
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend is applying with the Economic
Development Council of Jefferson County to the State of Washington
for a Local Development Matching Fund Grant, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary that certain conditions be met as part of
the application requirements, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that it is eligible
to apply for a Local Development Matching Fund Grant as defined in
State laws, regulations, guidelines, and will make available upon
request documents to verify eligibility, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that its organization
is actively involved in stimulating local economic development and
is serving a defined geographic area, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that it will fulfill
the local matching requirements as stipulated in the proposed
project budget, ensuring that the local resources will match the
State's share on a dolar-for-dollar basis and that no more than 50
percent of the match will be met by in-kind contributions, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that local matching
resources will not be used for ineligible costs and activities,
and that they will not be used to meet the matching requirements
of another publicly-assisted program, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that it will fulfill
the statutory requirement to have participation of a cross-section
of the local community in the economic development project,
including business, labor, education and training, and public
sector, and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend certifies that it will comply
with all applicable State laws, regulations, and guidelines in the
event that this application is selected for funding, including but
not limited to the provisions contained in RCW 43.63A.078 (enabling
statute); now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
that Brent Shirley, Mayor of Port Townsend, is authorized to submit

an application to the State of Washington on behalf of the City of
Port Townsend for a Local Development Matching Fund Grant in
support of the Port Townsend Gateway Project.
Passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and
approved by the Mayor this 5th day of December ., 1989.
