AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND ESTABLISHING
ADJUSTED SALARY FOR THE LEGAL ASSISTANT POSITION, AND
ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, in reviewing departmental information presented regarding the Year 2000
Budget, the City Manager has become aware that the salary for the Legal Assistant position is
below reasonable market rates, as determined through Association of Washington Cities Salary
Surveys for Comparable Cities; and
~, for the position listed below, the City Manager believes that as a matter of
salary equity, and to recognize excellent employee performance, an immediate salary adjustment
is necessary (prior to adoption of the Year 2000 Budget); and
WHEREAS, the adjusted salary for the position listed below is well within the line item
and overall departmental budget appropriation approved by the City Council in the Year 1999
Budget,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend in regular session
assembled, does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. From and after October 1, 1999, the salary for the following City position
is fixed not to exceed the following amount, which salary shall be paid monthly, unless otherwise
indicated:
Legal Assistant ........................ 2,433.73 2.700.00
SECTION 2. All other salaries shall remain as previously established.
SECTION 3. Any and all actions taken pursuant to the authority of this ordinance, but
prior to its passage, are hereby ratified and confirmed.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval and publication
in form and manner provided by law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of PjaCrm~msend at a regular meeting held this
