HomeMy WebLinkAbout2723 Establishing the Contingency Fund and the Treasury Agency Fund - Renaming the Hotel-Motel Transient Tax Fund to the Lodging Tax FundORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE authorizing the establishment of the Contingency Fund and the Treasury Agency Fund; and the name change of the Hotel-Motel Transient Tax Fund to the Lodging Tax Fund. WHEREAS, the City Council wants to accumulate a contingency reserve for events unforeseen or emergencies. WHEREAS, the City wants to account for monies collected in behalf of other governments in a Treasury Agency Fund separate from it's own monies. WHEREAS, the City wants to rename the Hotel-Motel Transient Tax Fund to reflect all types of lodging tax. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. A Contingency Fund shall be used for a City Council contingency reserve fund in accordance with RCW 35A. 33.145. The City Finance Director is hereby directed to establish this fund on January 1, 2000. Section 2. The Hotel-Motel Transient Fund is now renamed the Lodging Tax Fund. The City Finance Director is hereby directed to record this name change on January 1, 2000. Section 3. A Treasury Agency Fund shall be used to account for monies collected and remitted in behalf of other government agencies. The City Finance Director is hereby directed to establish this fund as soon as practicable. Section 4. If any provision of this ordinance is declared by any court of competent jurisdiction to be contrary to law, then such provision shall be null and void and shall be deemed separable from the remaining provisions of this ordinance and shall in no way affect the validity of the other provisions of this ordinance. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
