A JOINTRESOIJ3TION of the Board of County
Commissioners of Jefferson County and the
Port Townsend City Council, adopting a
regional growth management strategy.
WHEREAS, rapid growth in the Puget Sound region has threatened our
endowment of clean air, pure water and natural beauty, as well as our
future economic development; and
WHEREAS, Jefferson County and the City of Port Townsend are among the
fastest growing areas in the region; and
WHEREAS, in response to public concerns regarding the adverse environ-
mental and economic effects experienced from unplanned, uncoordinated
growth, the Washington State Legislature has enacted Engrossed Substi-
tute House Bill 2929, requiring certain growth management and planning
steps be undertaken by local jurisdictions, including Jefferson County
and the City of Port Townsend; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that the attached
Regional Growth Management Strategy is hereby adopted as the intended
overall strategy of the County and the City to provide for orderly,
coordinated management of growth within our jurisdictions in
implementation of Engrossed Substitute House Bill 2929, the Washington
State Growth Management Act.
