services with McConnell/Burke, Planning
Consultant, for supplementary assistance with
current land use and subdivision applications.
WHEREAS,
the City Council has enacted Ordinance 2192, providing
interim controls on development of the urban waterfront
areas of the city, during which time an urban
waterfront plan, environmental impact statement, and
implementing ordinances must be developed, considered
and adopted; and
WHEREAS,
the consulting firm retained to assist the city prepare
the new plan has not been able to fulfill its
commitment, shifting the primary responsibility to
available city staff, which requires consultant
assistance for current planning in order to assume
these larger responsibilities; and
WHEREAS,
the firm of McConnell/Burke has substantial experience
in providing current planning assistance to similar
communities, and is able to assist the city
immediately; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement
for planning services, substantially in the form attached here as
Exhibit A, with McConnell/Burke, Planning Consultant, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any actions taken pursuant to this
authorization but prior to its adoption are hereby ratified and
confirmed.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and
