AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND REVISING AND
ESTABLISHING THE FEES FOR THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
PROGRAM, EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 31, 1999 AND AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 2419
Whereas, in 1994, the City Council adopted ordinance 2419, amending ordinance 2177,
setting ambulance fees for basic and advance life support;
Whereas, the City is reimbursed for reasonable charges for emergency medial service
costs by state and federal agencies and insurance companies;
Whereas, the City has determined that emergency medical services are being provided at
less than cost of service;
Whereas, the Emergency Medical Service Fund has been consolidated into the General
Fund;
Whereas, the City determines it necessary to establish and adjust fees for basic life
support and advance life support services;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, in regular session
hereby ordains as follows:
Section 1. From and after December 31, 1999, the following revised fees and charges are
established for each call for the city Emergency Medical Services:
Basic Life Support $195 $300
Advance Life Support ' $345 $460
Transport Mileage per mile $0 $10
Section 2. Chapter 3.40.010 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows: ...which amount shall be credited to the emergency medical services

Section 3. Chapter 3.40.020 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows: ...which amount shall be credited to the emergency medical services
fund account.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in
the form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times and passed by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this Twentieth day of
