RESOLUTION
WHEREAS,
A RESOLUTION authorizing application
for Centennial Clean Water Fund FY
91 Funding Cycle from the Washington
State Department of Ecology's Water
Quality Financial Assistance Program.
Stormwater in the City of Port Townsend
currently flows to Port Townsend Bay and
to three fresh water and brackish water
ponds or lagoons within the City limits;
and
WHEREAS,
The City of Port Townsend proposes to
develop a plan to treat this stormwater
before it is discharged to these waters
in order to protect and enhance the water
quality of these important issues; and
WHEREAS, The office of Water Quality Financial
Assistance of the State Department of
Ecology has requested proposals for grant
assistance for such projects,
N o w , T h e r e f o r e,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND that the Mayor is hereby authorized to make application to
the Department of Ecology for grant assistance for this project
resulting in treatment of stormwater before it is discharged
into Port Townsend bay and other fresh brackish water ponds or
lagoons within the City limits.
