A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR A FREE
BICYCLE SERVICE TO BE PROVIDED WITHIN THE CITY
WHEREAS, citizens of the community and visitors have
primarily relied upon motor vehicles for transportation purposes,
with the attendant congestion, pollution and other consequences
as a result, and
WHEREAS, the City has seen significant growth recently
in terms of development, population and visitors which has further
contributed to the increased use of and reliance upon motor ve-
hicles with the impacts identified above, and
WHEREAS, Contractor more specifically identified below
has proposed a program to be conducted within the City for public
transporation purposes to encourage the use of ~bicycles for
traveling within the City, and the City desires to promote this
program, and
WHEREAS, the program will contribute to transportation
within the City; pertain to tourism and economic development;
and other public purposes; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend that the Mayor and City Clerk be and they are authorized
to execute on behalf of the City the attached CONTP~CT FOR BICYCLE
SERVICE in substantially the form as set forth, and the Treasurer
is authorized to issue the City's warrant or warrants in payment
of the consideration required by the contract.fromthe Current Expense
Fund. Passed by the City Council for the City of Port Townsend
and approved and signed by the Mayor this ~7~day of August, 1991.
