HomeMy WebLinkAbout92-022RESOLUTION ~2-22 A RESOLUTION supporting the Port Townsend Farmers Market and authorizing the use of the City parking lot and other designated areas located adjacent to the Police Station as the market site. WHEREAS, the City Council adopted by Ordinance 2216 the Urban Waterfront Plan to allow for planning for future development of the Port Townsend Urban Waterfront; and WHEREAS, the Urban Waterfront Plan encouraged the development of a seasonal public produce market that would be located near the Quincy Street dock - Jackson Memorial Sculpture area; and WHEREAS, the City-owned parking lot located between 607 and 627 Water Street is adjacent to the Jackson Sculpture area, and is a desirable location for a limited hours Farmers Market; and WHEREAS, the Farmers Market will occur seasonally on Saturday Mornings between the hours of 8:30 am and 12:00 noon only; and WHEREAS, with these limited hours of operation the Farmers Market would not impact the pdmary use of the lot to provide off- street parking for the commercial district; and WHEREAS, the establishment of a Farmers Market at the City parking lot site would provide benefit to the community; Now, Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that the Mayor is hereby authorized to allow the Port Townsend Civic Trust/Main Street to use the above-referenced parking lot for a Farmers Market during the limited hours cited above on a continuing basis for a ten year period, with the provision that either party may renegotiate the agreement if circumstances change. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that any actions taken pursuant to the authorization of this resolution but prior to its adoption are hereby ratified and confirmed.
