HomeMy WebLinkAbout2754 Budget for 2001ORDINANCE NO. 2754 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2001. WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City 0fPort Townsend, Washington, completed and placed on file with the City Clerk a proposed budget and estimate of the amount of the monies required to meet the public expenses, bond retirement and interest, reserve funds and expenses of government of the City for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2001 (the "2001 Preliminary Budget"), and a notice was published that the City Council would meet on the 29th of November and 4th of December 2000 at the hour of 6:30 p.m., at the Council Chambers in the City Hall for the purpose of making and adopting a budget for fiscal year 2001 and giving taxpayers within the city limits of the City an opportunity to be heard about the Preliminary Budget; and WHEREAS, the City Council did meet at City Hall on November 29, 2000 and December 4, 2000, and considered the matter of the 2001 Preliminary Budget; and WHEREAS, the 2001 Preliminary Budget does not exceed the lawful limit of taxation allowed by law to be levied on the property within the City of Port Townsend for the purposes set forth in the 2001 Preliminary Budget, and the estimated expenditures in each fund set forth in the 2001 Preliminary Budget are all necessary to carry on the government of the City for fiscal year 2001, and are all necessary to meet the various needs of the City during the period. WHEREAS, the 2001 Preliminary Budget incorporates existing rates and fees as authorized by Ordinance 2719 passed on December 6, 1999, and the City Council hereby intends to ratify the existing rates and fees. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The budget for the City of Port Townsend, Washington, for the fiscal year 2001, is hereby adopted at fund level as set forth in the document entitled "City of Port Townsend Annual Budget" three copies of which are on file with the City Clerk. Section 2. Estimated resources as authorized by Council Ordinances including Ordinance 2719, which is hereby ratified, confirmed and re-enacted, effective January 1, 2000, including fund balances for working capital for each separate fund of the City of Port Townsend, and aggregate totals for all such funds combined, for the year 2001, are set forth in summary form below, and are hereby appropriated for expenditure at the fund level during the year 2001: FUND General Drug Enforcement & Education Contingency Street Lodging Tax Community Development Block Grant System Development Charges G.O. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of the City of Port Townsend 2001 Annual Budget to the Office of State Auditor and to the Association of Washington Cities. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
