A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPROVE A CHANGE
ORDER FOR THE EXISTING STRUCTURE AT THE WASTEWATER
TREATMENT FACILITY.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and regular occurrence on large construction
projects such as the Wastewater Treatment Facility expansion and as such have
been included as 5 % of the contract amount; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and signatures by the City, the Engineer (CH2M Hill), the Contractor
(IMCO), and the State (DOE); and
WHEREAS, Changes are necessary to existing structures at the Wastewater Treatment Facility
at this time that were discovered when the rehabilitation work began recently,
including replacing exis~ng doors, old valves, handrails and corroded pipes; and
WHEREAS, These changes have been approved by DOE and are grant eligible and will bring
total costs for changes orders to about 2 % of the appropriated 5 %,
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize the
Mayor to authorize the Public Works Director to sign Change Order #8 for the existing structure.
