A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A CONTRACT
AGREEMENT WITH POLARIS ENGINEERING AND SURVEYING, INC. FOR
ENGINEERING AND DESIGN OF STORMWATER IMPROVEMENTS TO THE
16th STREET DRAINAGE CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS,
The City is experiencing a number of recurring stormwater problems within a
single drainage basin which begins on the northwest side of Discovery Road and
empties into Kah Tai Lagoon at 16th Street, and
WHEREAS,
The City desires to correct these problems and to provide a basin map showing
contours, property lines and drainage features which would make it possible to
determine potential areas from local detention and treatment facilities; and
WHEREAS, The City is in need of certain engineering and design services in connection with
this project and does not have sufficient staff to conduct these services; and
WHEREAS,
Funds have been allocated in the 1993 budget for surveying and engineering
services necessary to design and construct stormwater improvements, including
preparing construction plans and specifications and other general services;
and
WHEREAS, Polaris Engineering and Surveying, Inc. has submitted three proposals that can be
combined into a comprehensive and phased design project; and
Polaris Engineering and Surveying, Inc. has demonstrated stormwater design
expertise, ability to respond to the City's needs given a short time schedule, and
has been selected from our Professional Services Roster in accordance with RCW
39.80.
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that
it authorizes the Mayor to sign this contract agreement for engineering and design services
services for stormwater improvements with Polaris Engineering and Surveying, Inc., for a sum
not to exceed the amount of $23,000. Adopt~l,,by'~ City~ Council of the City of Port
