A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE AN INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT WITH
CHEVRON USA PRODUCTS REGARDING SITE CLEANUP
ON PROPERTY THE CITY IS PURCHASING AT WATER
AND ADAMS STREETS.
WHEREAS, the City is purchasing a parcel of property at the southWesterly corner of
Water and Adams Streets; and
WHEREAS, Chevron USA Products is conducting an environmental cleanup of the
property; and
WHEREAS, Chevron USA Products has agreed to provide indemnification of the City
against future regulatory actions from agencies involved in environmental regulation of the site
related to petroleum contamination from Chevron's prior operation of a service station on the
property; Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND THAT:
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an indemnification agreement in substantially
the same form as that attached hereto with Chevron USA Products.
Passed by the City Council and signed by the Mayor this 17th day of May, 1993.
