A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A CONTRACT
FOR THE PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY FROM VARTKES TATARIAN
AND JILL TATANIAN FOR A STORMWATER FACILITY AND
AUTHORIZING THE CLERK/TREASURER TO ISSUE THE WARRANTS
NECESSARY TO ACCOMPLISH THE PURCHASE.
WHEREAS, The City is aware of problems related to uncontrolled
stormwater in the developing area to the North of the
Replat of Bishop Park Addition to the City of Port
Townsend; and
WHEREAS,
The.Public Works Department has developed a plan for the
diversion and treatment of the stormwater through an
existing drainage corridor within said plat; and
WHEREAS,
An essential component of the plan is the acquisition of
Lot 47 of said plat, which is owned by Vartkes Tatarian
and Jill Tatarian; and
WHEREAS,
The acquisition of said lot will also enhance access to
the William F. Bishop Park dedicated by said plat; and
WHEREAS;
The lot to be acquired has been appraised by a qualified
appraiser and a purchase price has been negotiated with
the owners which does not exceed the fair market value
reflected in the appraisal; and
The City has appropriated funds in the 1993 budget for
such property purchases,
N O W T H E R E F O R
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign a contract with Vartkes
Tatarian and Jill Tatarian for the purchase of Lot 47 of the Replat
of Bishop Park Addition to the City of Port Townsend for the price
of $12,000, such purchase being for the public purposes of
stormwater control and the enhancement of access to the William F.
Bishop Park. The Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to issue the
warrants necessary to accomplish th~hase.
