HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-093RESOLUTION NO. 93 - ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF A REGULAR PROPERTY TAX IN THE SUM OF $0.25 PER $1,000 ASSESSED VALUATION EACH YEAR FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE YEARS BEGINNING IN 1993 TO BE COLLECTED IN 1994 FOR THE PROVISION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AS PROVIDED WITHIN THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND Whereas. The City of Port Townsend has provided emergency medical care or emergency medical services since 1980, including the related personnel costs, and related equipment, supplies, vehicles and structures needed, and, Whereas. The last voter approval for an emergency medical services property tax levy was given in 1987 for six years from 1988 to 1993, and, Whereas. In order to produce the revenue adequate to pay the costs of providing emergency medical services and to maintain reserve funds sufficient to assure the continuation of such services, it is necessary that the city collect a special property tax set aside specifically for emergency medical services, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that: There shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Port Townsend for their ratification or rejection, an election on September 14, 1993, the question of whether or not the city may levy a regular property tax to a maximum of the sum of $0.25 per $1,000.00 assessed valuation each year for six consecutive years beginning in 1993 to be collected in 1994 to provide emergency medical services.
