A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER
#1 FOR UNANTICIPATED EARTHWORK AT THE BIOSOLIDS COMPOSTING
FACILITY.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and regular occurrence on large construction
projects such as the Biosolids Composting Facility and as such have
been included as 5 % of the contract amount; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and signatures by the City, the Engineer (CH2M Hill), the Contractor
(GIT), and the State (DOE); and
WHEREAS, The earthwork was required when the spoil pile from landfill closure needed to be
moved. City staff and equipment assisted, significantly reducing construction hold
up and costs; and
WHEREAS, The City Council must approve all change orders in excess of $5000,
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize the
Mayor to authorize the Public Works Director to sign Change Order #1 for earthwork.
