A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO APPROVE A CHANGE
ORDER #10 FOR DECHLORINATION ADDITIONS AT THE WASTEWATER
TREATMENT FACILITY.
WHEREAS, Change Orders are a necessary and regular occurrence on large construction
projects such as the Wastewater Treatment Facility expansion and as such have
been included as 5 % of the contract amount; and
WHEREAS,
Change Orders are actual changes to the original contract, requiring fair
negotiation and signatures by the City, the Engineer (CH2M Hill), the Contractor
(IMCO), and the State (DOE); and
WHEREAS, The NPDES discharge permit for the City's Wastewater Treatment Facility
requires maintenance of very low chlorine levels in the effluent and the addition
of the dechlorination step to remove the residual chlorine;
WHEREAS, These changes have been approved by DOE and are grant eligible,
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved that the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does hereby authorize the
Mayor to authorize the Public Works Director to sign Change Order #10 for the dechlorination
system additions.
