HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-109RESOLUTION NO. 93-109 A RESOLUTION A~HORIZING THE MAYOR TO MAKE TWO APPLICATIONS TO THE PUGET SOUND WATER QUALITY AUTHORITY FOR ACTION GRAm FUNDS FOR NONPOINT, STORMWATER AND ~DS PROTECTION PROJECTS. ~I~REAS, The City of Port Townsend has limited funds for the many projects needed to control and manage stormwater; and The Puget Sound Water Quality Authority is releasing funds through the Action Grants Program. to support projectsthat implement goals of the Puget Sound Plan and protects water quality; and The City and Port of Port Townsend have common stOrmwater goals and would value assistance to address stormwater management issues in the vicinity of the Port; and Polaris Engineering and Surveying has been retained by the City to design several stormwater projects, and is willing to prepare two proposals for the City and City staff time is limited; and Two project applications are proposed with a total amount not to exceed $75,000 potentially'committing the City up to 25% in matching funds; and Total City funds, not to exceed $18,750, are proposed to match grant funds and would be appropriated through the Stor~ater Utility, N 0 W 'i' H E R E F 0 R E BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that it authorizes the Mayor to direct staff to make preliminary applications for possible grant funds from the Puget sound Water Quality Authority to contribute to resolving City Stormwater problems. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council wishes to review the proposed application and give its specific authorization prior to submission of a final application.
