HomeMy WebLinkAbout93-112RESOLUTION NO. q~-)]2.~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO NOTIFY SUMMIT CABLEVISION BY LETTER THAT THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND WILL REQUIRE SUMMIT TO MEET THE MINIMUM CUSTOMER SERVICE STANDARDS PREPARED BY THE FEDERAL COMMU-NICATIONS COMMISSION UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE CABLE TELEVISION CONSUMER PROTECTION AND COMPETITION ACT OF 1992. WHEREAS, regulations prepared by the Federal Communications Commission ("FCC") under the authority of the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 ("Cable Act of 1992"), provide for certain minimum customer service standards which local franchising authorities may require their franchisee to meet upon giving written notice thereof; and WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public heating to receive input from Summit Cablevision, the City's franchisee, and the public regarding this issue; Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to give written notice on behalf of the City of Port Townsend to Summit Cablevision that Summit will be required to meet the minimum customer service standards for cable customers as promulgated in the rules of the FCC. 1993. /o~hn l~l.-~lise, Mayor · APproved as t form: Dennis McLerran, City Attorney
