RESOLUTION NO. 92-t35
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO NEGOTIATE WITH THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OR ITS DESIGNEE REGARDING
THE PURCHASE OF OPTION RIGHTS WITH RESPECT TO CERTAIN
PARCELS OF RF=%L PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS WHICH
HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS SURPLUS COUNTY L~NDS ~ND
AUTHORIZING THE CLERK/TREASURER TO ISSUE THE WARRANTS
INCIDENTAL TO THE PURCHASE OF SUCH OPTION RIGHTS
The Board of County Commissioners has identified as
surplus certain parcels of county-owned real property
within the City limits on a list finalized by said board
at its meeting of November 22, 1993; and
It is the intent of the Board of County Commissioners to
sell each such parcel to the highest bidder at a public
auction scheduled for December 10, 1993, unless the City,
prior to December 9, 1993, negotiates the purchase of an
option right with respect to any such parcel the City may
be intending to acquire; and
The Public Works Department has, on short notice,
conducted an assessment of the properties listed to
determine which, if any, might be acquired by the City
for a public purpose; and
The City Council has considered the recommendations of
the Public Works Department, as well as the wishes of
City residents expressed to the City Council and Mayor;
and
It is the sense of the City Council that it is in the
best interests of the City to attempt in good faith to
negotiate regarding the purchase of option rights with
respect to the properties identified by tax parcel number
in this Resolution;
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to negotiate with the Board of County
Commissioners or its designee regarding the purchase of option
rights with respect to each of the following properties, identified
by its respective tax_parcel number:
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to
issue the warrants incidental to the purchase of an option right
with respect to all or any of the foregoing parcels of real
property.
