RESOLUTION NO. 09-037
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A GRANT
AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE MILITARY DEPARTMENT FOR
A HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT (FEMA-1682-DR-WA) TO SEISMICALLY
RETROFIT THE TAYLOR STREET TUNNEL LIDS (SIDEWALKS)
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has received a hazard mitigation grant
from the Washington State Military Department for the seismic retrofit of the Taylor
Street Tunnel Lids (Sidewalks); and
WHEREAS, the City Manager must sign a grant agreement with the Washington
State Military Department for each phase of the grant awarded for the seismic retrofit of
the Taylor Street Tunnel Lids (Sidewalks); and
WHEREAS, the project was designated as a priority in updates to the Jefferson
County -City of Port Townsend Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (2004); and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council to move forward with this project
in the most expedient manner,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign a grant agreement with
the Washington State Military Department for each phase; and to sign all necessazy
documents and contracts fox the seismic retrofit of the Taylor Street Tunnel Lids
(Sidewalks), within available funding.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this nineteenth day of October, 2009.
