A RESOLUTION authorizing the transfer of a
grant agreement between Jefferson County and
the Department of Ecology to the City of Port
TowD~d for a Habitat Utilization/Water
Quality Study to be carried out by the Port
Tow~endHarine Science Center.
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has requested to transfer Department of
Ecology Grant Agreement #G9200331 to the City of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Ecology grant agreement is to fund a
Habitat Utilization/Water Quality Study to be carried out by the
Port Townsend Marine Science Center; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of transferring this agreement from the County
to the City is to provide funds to the Marine Science Center to
carry out the activities described in the grant agreement; and
WHEREAS, by accepting the grant agreement, the City will provide
grant administration oversight and is not required to provide any
matching funds; and
WHEREAS, the goals of the project are to demonstrate the effects Of
water quality on the nearshore marine habitat and to increase
public awareness of these effects; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend supports the efforts and public
outreach activities undertaken by the Port Townsend Marine Science
Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend hereby accepts all of the rights
and responsibilities of Jefferson County and agrees to complete all
performance obligations under this agreement; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that the Mayor is b_ereby authorized to enter into the grant
agreement with the Department of Ecology substantially in the form
of the agreement attached hereto as Attachment A.
