A RESOLUTION 'AFFIRMING THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FOR THE POLICIES SET FORTH IN THE COMPREHENSIVE PARKS AND
RECREATION PLAN.
The City Council has authorized the Mayor to negotiate
with the Board of County Commissioners regarding the
acquisition by the' City of certain properties owned by
Jefferson County inside the City limits which have been
determined by the County to be surplus; and
Properties have been identified by City and County
negotiators which, if acquired by the City, may be well
situated and suited for the development of parks oriented
towards the recreational needs of the surrounding
neighborhoods and the community as a whole; and
A Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan ("the Plan")
was adopted by the City Council in 1991, in consultation
with the Parks and Recreation commission comprised of
Port Townsend residents; and
It is the sense of the City Council that the policies
reflected in the Plan remain both relevant and valid; and
The City Council particularly wishes to affirm its
support for the policies of pursuing the acquisition of
property for parks and recreational uses, and designing
parks and recreational facilities consistent with the
needs and desires of citizens in the area,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it hereby affirms its support for the policies set forth in
the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan adopted in 1991 and, in
particular, its policies of pursuing the acquisition of property
for parks and recreational uses, and designing parks and
recreational facilities consistent with the needs and desires of
citizens in the area.
