A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN
INTERIM AGREEMENT WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR
OPERATION OF THE VISITOR INFORMATION CENTER UNTIL
FUNDING RECOMMENDATIONS CAN BE MADE BY A NEWLY
FORMED CITY TOURISM COORDINATING COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, the Tourism Coordinating Council (TCC) process for the year 1994 has
been delayed due to Jefferson County's decision to separate County and City hotel/motel tax
allocations and disband the joint County/City TCC; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Chamber of Commerce desire to continue operation of the
Visitor Information Center on an interim basis until a new TCC process can be formed to
recommend allocation of monies on a final basis for the year 1994; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber provides a valuable community service by operating the
Visitor Information Center; Now, Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS:
The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute an agreement in substantially the same form
as attached hereto with the Chamber of Commerce for operation of the Visitor Information
Center on an interim basis until permanent funding decisions for 1994 can be made.
