HomeMy WebLinkAbout2785 Budget for 2002ORDINANCE NO. 2785 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2002. WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, completed and placed on file with the City Clerk a proposed budget and estimate of the amount of monies required to meet the public expenses, bond retirement and interest, reserve funds and expenses of government of the City for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2002 (the "2002 Preliminary Budget"), and a notice was published that the City Council would meet on the 28th of November and 3ra of December 2001 at the hour of 6:30 p.m., at the Council Chambers in the City Hall for the purpose of making and adopting a budget for the fiscal year 2002 and giving taxpayers within the city limits of the City an opportunity to be heard about the Preliminary Budget; and WHEREAS, the City Council did meet at City Hall on November 28, 2001 and December 3,2001, and consider the matter of the 2002 Preliminary Budget; and WHEREAS, the 2002 Preliminary Budget does not exceed the lawful limit of taxation allowed by law to be levied on the property within the City of Port Townsend for the purposes set forth in the 2002 Preliminary Budget, and the estimated expenditures in each fund set forth in the 2002 Preliminary Budget are all necessary to carry on the government of the City for fiscal year 2002, and are all necessary to meet the various needs of the City during the period. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend does ordain as follows: Section 1. The budget for the City of Port Townsend, Washington, for the fiscal year 2002, is hereby adopted at fund level as set forth in the document entitled "City of Port Townsend Final Budget 2002" three copies of which are on file with the City Clerk. Section 2. Estimated resources, including fund balances for working capital for each separate fund of the City of Port Townsend, and aggregate totals for all such funds combined, for the year 2002, are set forth in sununary form below, and are hereby appropriated for expenditure at the fund level during the year 2002: FUND APPROPRIATION General $6,588,282 Drug Enforcement & Education 30,000 Contingency 0 Street 554,206 Lodging Tax 263,233 1 Ordinance 2785 FUND Community Development Block Grant System Development Charges G.O. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of the City of Port Townsend Final Budget 2002 to the Office of State Auditor and to the Association of Washington Cities. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this 3rd day of December 2001.
