A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY
FOR PROPERTY OWNED BY PETER G. AND FLORENCE )t. SOFIE AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY CLERKyr~REASURER TO ISSUE THE WARRANTS WHICH MAY BE
NECESSARY TO CONPLETE THE EXCHANGE.

In response to a proposal made by Peter Sofie, the City Council
authorized the Public Works Department to' enter into discussions
with Mr. Sofie to determine the feasibility and desirability of
exchanging property owned by Mr. and Mrs. Sofie in Block 6 of the
plat of Webster's Addition to the City of Port Townsend for property
owned by the City in the adjacent Block 9 of said plat; and
The property owned by Mr. and Mrs. Sofie is next to the City golf
course and, with Mr. and Mrs. Sofie's permission, has been used as
the tee for the third hole of the golf course for several years; and
Mr. and Mrs. Sofie's home is on property adjacent to the property he
proposes to exchange and they wish to give a family member the
opportunity to construct a single-family residence in order to live
nearby; and
Staff of the Public Works Department have visited the properties
which are proposed to be exchanged for the purpose of making a
preliminary determination as to the equivalency of the properties to
be exchanged and whether the exchange would be in the best interest
of the City; and
The Public Works Department and the Parks and Property Committee
have discussed the proposed exchange and the layout of the planned
residential construction during several committee meetings which
included Mr. Sofie as well as other interested and affected parties,
the Committee has recommended to the City Council that the exchange
be completed; and
At its meeting on March 7, 1994, the City Council adopted a motion
authorizing City staff to proceed with the exchange; and
Pursuant to such authorization the terms and conditions of the
exchange have been negotiated by City staff, as set forth in
agreements which have been reviewed by the City Council; and
It is the finding of the City Council that it would be in the best
interest of the City to complete the exchange subject to certain
terms and conditions set forth in said agreements,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that it hereby
authorizes the Mayor to complete an exchange of real property owned by the City
within Block 9 of Webster's Addition to the City of Port Townsend for property
owned by Peter G. and Florence M. Sofie in Block 6 of Webster's Addition, as
aforesaid, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk/Treasurer is hereby authorized to issue the
warrants necessary to fulfill such agreement.
