A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT TOWNSEND'AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
SIGN A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT WITH
SHELDON & ASSOCIATES REGARDING A WETLAND
INVENTORY
WHEREAS, As part of the planning process mandated by the Growth Management Act, the
City needs to identify wetland areas and natural drainage corridors; and
WHEREAS, The identification of wetlands and draMa, ge corridors will as~st the City in
implementing its strategy of controlling stormwater using natural systems; and
WHEREAS,
The idenfificafi{m of wetlands and the confirmation of SUspected natural drainage
corridors requires specialized expertise in the areas of biology, hydrology and soil
analysis; and
WHEREAS,
The City does not have employees qualified m conduct the type of inventory
which is required to give further direction and definition to the City's property
acquisition program for stormwater control; and
WHEREAS, Sheldon & Associat~ is on the City's current professional services roster and is
adequately staffed and fully qualified m conduct the inventory needed by the City,
NO W THEREFORE
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the Mayor is hereby
authorized to execute on behalf of the City a professitmal services contract with Sheldon &
Associates, in ~bstanfially the form attached hereto, regarding an inventory of wetlands and
drainage corridors in the Northwesterly portion of the City; and
Be it further resolved that the City ClerldTreamrer is hereby authorized to isme tach warrants
as may be necessary to comply with the terms of such contract.
