A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A PROJECT PROSPECTUS AND LOCAL
AGENCY AGREEMENT WITH WASHINGTON STATE. DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE SAN JUAN AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT.
WHEREAS,
improvements to San Juan Avenue are needed to provide safe and efficient multimodal
means of transporting people and goods through this major north-south corridor serving a
rapidly growing section of the City; and
WHEREAS,
San Juan Avenue has been identified as a high Transportation Improvement Program
priority and will be an important facility in providing access to the new Blue Heron Middle
School; and
WHEREAS, partial federal funding is available now through the Surface Transportation Program
Regional Allocation of ISTEA, and;
WHEREAS,
obligation of federal funds must be performed by submitting a Project Prospectus and Local
Agency Agreement signed by the Mayor before a consultant can be selected and design
work on a conceptual plan can proceed,
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the Mayor is hereby
authorized to sign a Project Prospectus and Local Agency Agreement in substantially the forms as attached
hereto.
