A RESOLUTION AJ)OPTING REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES AND
PROCEDURES FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
WHEREAS,
The City is currently planning and undertaking a number of projects
which require the acquisition of real property, as well as interests
in real property, such as rights of way for street improvements and
easements for utility improvements; and
WHEREAS,
All available sources of funding for City projects are being
explored, and pursued when appropriate; and
WHEREAS,
Eligibility for project funding through state or federal agencies is
often contingent on compliance with the policies and procedures of
the funding agencies; and
WHEREAS,
It is the finding of the City Council that, in order to allow for
the widest range of funding options, it is in the best interest of
the City formally to adopt policies and procedures regarding real
property acquisition which are in accord with those required in
order to be eligible for federal funding of projects involving
acquisition of real property and interests in real property; and
WHEREAS,
The Public Works Department, in consultation with the state
Department of Transportation, has drafted the Real Property
Acquisition Policies and Procedures of the City of Port Townsend
attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A, which are consistent with
state and federal laws and administrative rules,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND that it hereby
adopts the Real Property Acquisition Policies and Procedures for the City of Port
Townsend attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A, which is incorporated herein
by this reference. ~
