A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING A LETTER TO THE
JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend has reduced its water
service area, and,
WHEREAS, the City does not believe that there is adequate
supply available to serve the likely demand of the out-of-city
service area, and,
WHEREAS, the City is trying to work out chlorine contact time
solutions to existing customers, and,
WHEREAS, demand in the area under consideration exceeds the
infrastructure capacity, and,
WHEREAS, Jefferson County is considering rezoning an area from
G1 to C2 partially located in our interim service area at 4 Corners
east of State Route 20 and south of 4 Corners Road, and,
WHEREAS, part of the area is in the City's former service area
where water is now not available, and,
WHEREAS, water service as part of the Comprehensive Water
Improvement Program cannot be, since this area is outside the Urban
Growth Area and the Interim Urban Growth Area, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that:
The Mayor is here and hereby authorized and directed to write
a response which requests the county deny the above mentioned
rezone.
