A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A
CONTRACT WITH THE STATE OF WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF
COMMUNITY, TRADE AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR FIRE
PREVENTION INSPECTIONS IN STATE-LICENSED BOARDING HOMES
LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
WHEREAS, the State Fire Marshal no longer conducts Boarding Home inspections; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development
desires to contract with the City of Port Townsend Fire Department to provide inspection
services for Boarding Homes located within the City of Port Townsend; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend Fire Department is the authority having
jurisdiction as identified by the State of Washington; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend Fire Department is able to perform Boarding
Home inspections without additional staff;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE
CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, that the Mayor is authorized to immediately enter into a
contract with the State of Washington Department of Community, Trade and Economic
Development for fire prevention inspections in State-licensed Boarding Homes located within the
City limits of Port Townsend.
