A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
SIGN A COUNTY/CITY MOU FOR GRANT FUNDS TO
DEVELOP A COMPOST MARKETING PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City owns and operates a compost facility that uses biosolids, septage, and
yard waste and produces a compost material; and
WHEREAS, the compost material meets EPA Section 503 regulations which allows for its
use by the public for any purpose; and
WHEREAS, the City is now at a point that there is enough volume of compost to be able to
market and sell the material; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to thoroughly analyze the best way to market the compost; and
WHEREAS, the City has an opportunity to receive a grant for offsetting the cost of a
marketing study;
NOW THEREFORE
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that it authorizes the Mayor
to sign a County/City Memoranda of Understanding in substantially the same form as the
attached, for grant funds to develop a m~d~lan for the sale of compost.
