A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN i~N AGREEMENT
WITH ELDRIDGE HOMES, INC., REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF LAND
IN THE CITY ANDAUTHORIZING THE CLERK/TREASURER TO ISSUE
WAI~/~a/~TS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE LAND IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE AGREEMENT
Whereas,
The water pipe line to be constructed within the City in
order to comply with the chlorine contact requirements of
rules and regulations promulgated pursuant to the Federal
Safe Drinking Water Act will be routed along existing
street rights of way for most of its length; and
Whereas,
The pipe line will be realigned from the Howard Street
right of way to the Rainier Street right of way to the
South of Discovery Road; and
Whereas,
In-connection with the Growth Management Act planning
process, the Howard and Rainier Street corridors have
been identified as a possible route for an arterial
street, which would require a reconfiguration of the
intersection of Rainier Street and Discovery Road for
public safety reasons; and
Whereas,
Eldridge Homes, Inc., is the owner of unimproved real
property adjacent to the rights of way for Rainier Street
and Discovery Road; and
Whereas,
Eldridge Homes, Inc., has agreed to sell Lots 1 through
6 in Block 21 of Phillips Addition to the City of Port
Townsend for $49,000, which is not in excess of the fair
market value estimated by an appraiSal performed by
Austin Lee, a certified Washington appraiser; and
Whereas, The funds for this purchase have been budgeted for 1994,
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an agreement with Eldridge
Homes, Inc., regarding the purchase by the City of Lots 1 through
6 in Block 21 of Phillips Addition to the City of Port Townsend for
$49,000; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to
issue the warrants necessary to complete the purchase of the land
in accordance with said agreement.
