AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
AMENDING THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE,
SECTION 2.04.010, PORT TOWNSEND CI~ COUNCIL RULES,
BUSINESS MEETINGS- SCHEDULE, AUTHORIZING CERTAIN
ACTIONS AT COUNCIL STUDY SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS
WHEREAS, the City Council determines that it is appropriate to allow certain
actions to occur at study sessions,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains
as follows:
SECTION 1. Amendment. Chapter 2.04, Port Townsend City Council Rules,
Section 2.04.010, Business Meetings - Schedule, of the Port Townsend Municipal
Code, is hereby afnended to read as follows (strike is deleted, underline is added):
PTMC 2.04.010 Business meetings - Schedule
A. Regular city council business meetings are held twice monthly and are scheduled on
the first and third Mondays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council
Chambers, or at such temporary location as designated by resolution adopted by the
city council. When council meeting dates fall on a legal holiday, the meeting shall be
held on the next day that is not a legal holiday, at 6:30 p.m.
B. Council study sessions and workshops may be held in accordance with the council's
rules of procedure, adopted by resolution of the city council. Council may take action
at study sessions and workshops as follows: scheduling of (1) regular and special
meetings; (2) public meetings and hearings; (3) items for future regular or special
meeting agendas, and 4~4) direction to the Manager for action on matters, like review of
matters, preparation of reports, r~reparation of ordinances, but not to take final action
on matters.
C. Special city council meetings may be called to conduct city business as needed in
accordance with proper notification requirements of state law. rr~,.,~ -~,:o ^ ~ ~ ~ rrna.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its
application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the

ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not
affected.
SECTION 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a
regular meeting thereof, held this 4th day of March, 2002.
