A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND SUBMIT
APPLICATIONS FOR GRANTS FROM THE CENTENNIAL CLEAN
WATER FUND FOR A WATER QUALITY IMPLEMENTATION PLAN
FOR BASIN 4, WELLHEAD PROTECTION PLAN, SEWER
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, AND THREE WATERSHED PROJECTS
INCLUDING GROUNDWATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT,
EDUCATION PROGRAM, AND INSTREAM FLOW PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a water quality implementation plan for drainage basin 4;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Health is requiring that a wellhead protection plan be
implemented; and
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a Comprehensive Master Plan related to its Sewer
Collection System; and
the Jefferson County Water Resources Council has determined that a
groundwater quality plan, public education program, and instream flow
program are their priority projects for the year; and
WHEREAS, Centennial Clean Water Grant Funds may be available to assist the City in
defraying the costs of these projects.
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsehd that it authorizes the
Mayor to submit applications for Centennial Clean Water Fund Grants for various projects
including, Stormwater Water Quality Implementation Plan - Basin 4, Wellhead Protection
Plan, Comprehensive Sewer Plan, and watershed projects including Groundwater Quality
Assessment, Education Program, and Instream Flow Program.
