HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-022RESOLUTION NO. 95-~ A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH FRED WILLIAM WILLEIKSEN, REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF LAND IN THE CITY ANDAUTHORIZING THE ACTING TREASURER TO ISSUE WARRANTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE LAND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AGREEMENT Whereas, The City has adopted a strategy of using natural systems for s5ormwater control wherever appropriate and feasible; and Whereas, The preservation of existing wetlands, which can be appropriate for stormwater control under certain clrcumssances, is an element of the City's stormwater control strategy; and Whereas, The City has delineated and surveyed a large wetland in the plat of Fowler's Park Addition (~the Winona Wetland") in the Northwest portion of the City and developed a plan for its preservation; and Whereas, The lots impacted by the Winona Wetland, as identified by the survey, have been appraised in accordance with the City's adopted property acquisition policy; and Whereas, Purchase offers have been made to the owners of lots impacted by the Winona Wetland; and Whereas, Fred William Willeiksen has accepted the City's Offer to -purchase certain lots for a price which is supported by the City's appraisal of the fair market value of the lots to be purchased; and Whereas, The funds for this purchase have been budgeted for 1995, N 0 W T H E R E F 0 R E BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT.TOWNSEND that it authorizes the Mayor to sign an agreement with Fred William Willeiksen regarding the purchase of Lots 1 - 14 and Lot 18 in Block 21, and Lots 1 - 7 and Lots 13 - 17 'in Block 25, all in Fowler's Park Addition to the City of Port Townsend, for a price of $25,500; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting Treasurer is authorized to issue the warrants necessary to complete the purchase of the land in accordance with said agreement.
