HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-056Resolution No. 95-,5't~ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND APPROVING THE 1995-1996 INTERLOCAL DRUG TASK FORCE AGREEMENT The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, resolves as follows: WHEREAS, for the last several years, the City of Port Townsend has participated in, and jointly funded, an Interlocal Drug Task Force, and has signed an Interlocal Drug Task Force Agreement to effectuate that participation; and WHEREAS, the Interlocal Drug Task Force provides a formal organization to centralize supervision and enhance efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat controlled substance trafficking; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of the Interlocal Drug Task Force Agreement, the City of Port Townsend achieves significant benefits to the City in investigation and prosecution of controlled substance offenders; and WHEREAS, the City is required by the Interlocal Agreement to contribute $1,500 as an annual contribution towards the operation of the task force, to be deposited in the WESTNET Fund, and to jointly fund (with the assistance of 75 percent grant funding) a law enforcement officer with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, to participate in the prevention and control of substance abuse trafficking; and WHEREAS, the Port Townsend City Council views the ongoing mission of the Drug Task Force to be vital to the best interests of the Port Townsend community, and has appropriated all necessary revenues to fund the Interlocal Drug Task Force Agreement in the City's 1995 Budget, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Port Townsend that the Council approves and authorizes the Mayor to sign the Interlocal Drug Task Force Agreement, in substantially the form attached Resolution.
