A RESOL~ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING WITH THE OLYMPIC AIR POLLUTION CONTROL
AUTHORITY (OAPCA) AND PORT TOWNSEND SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 50
TO ESTABLISH AN AIR MONITORING STATION IN PORT TOWNSEND AT
THE BLUE HERON MIDDLE SCHOOL
WHEREAS, the City and OAPCA and School District No. 50 are desirous of entering into an
Agreement to formalize their relationship, and
the Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance for the Blue Heron Middle
School recommended installation of an air monitoring station at the school site
to monitor potential air quality impacts, and
OAPCA and the Port Townsend School District have each agreed to provide
equipment and staff to establish, operate, maintain, provide data reporting, and
install equipment for a monitoring station, and
WHEREAS,
the City has received a grant from OAPCA in the amount of $2,567 to be used
for an air quality oriented program, and will pay $600 of that grant money to
the Port ToWnsend School District to be used toward associated labor,
maintenance, and operational costs of the station;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign a Memorandum of Understanding among the City of Port
Townsend, OAPCA, and Port Townsend School District No. 50 in the same form
as attached.
