RI±~SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND ESTABLISHING A
CITY EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAM
The City Council of the City of Port Townsend., Washington, does resolve as
follows:
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend recognizes that employee health is
related to lifestyle decisions and nnany illnesses and injuries can be prevented by positive
individual health practices; and
WHEREAS, the benelits of employee wellness programs typically increase
participants' awareness of their health options by helping them to acquire the knowledge,
skills and motivation to achieve and. maintain healthy lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Townsend further recognizes that improvements to
employee health, achievable through active workplace health promotion programs and
activities can result in better morale, reduced absenteeism, enhanced productivity and
performance, and can be a prudent strategy to control healthcare expenditures,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council for the City oi`
Port Townsend. hereby expresses its support of the City of Port Townsend Wellness
Program whose mission is to promote awareness of healthy lifestyle choices and their
positive effect on complete personal wellness for all employees of the City of Port
Townsend.
AllOPTED by the City Council ol'the City of Port Townsend at a regular
business meeting thereof, held this seventeenth day of August, 200).
