HomeMy WebLinkAbout2808 Speed Limit - Blaine Street - PenaltiesOrdinance No. 2808 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO CREATE TWO NEW SECTIONS: SECTION 10.28.005, PENALTIES, CHAPTER 10.28, SPEED LIMITS ESTABLISHED; AND SECTION 10.28.030, BLAINE STREET- BETWEEN HARRISON STREET AND TYLER STREET WHEREAS, the Transportation Committee at its May 6, 2002 meeting, following review and discussion, moved to recommend to the City Council a speed limit change from 25 to 20 miles per hour for Blaine Street between the intersections of Harrison and Tyler Streets; and WHEREAS, the City Council determines it appropriate to adopt the recommendation of the Transportation Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: SECTION 1. A new section is added to Chapter 10.28, to read as follows: 10.28.030 Blaine Street - Between the intersections of Harrison Street and Tyler Street. The speed limit on that portion of Blaine Street between the east boundary of Harrison Street and west boundary of Tyler Street is established at 20 miles per hour, and no vehicle of any kind shall travel on Blaine Street in excess of 20 miles per hour from the east boundary of Harrison Street to west boundary of Tyler Street. SECTION 2. Penalties. A new section is added to Chapter 10.28, to read as follows: 10.28.005 Penalties. A violation of the provisions of this Chapter shall be punished in the manner set forth in RCW Title 46 and Chapter 308-330, as now or hereafter amended. Page 1 Ordinance 2808 SECTION 3. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law. Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a regular meeting thereof, held this third day of June, 2002.
