HomeMy WebLinkAbout95-110RESOLUTION NO. 95-110 A RESOLUTION OF THE PORT TOWNSEND CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON CITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING CONSORTIUM SERVICES The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, does resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City is required by Federal law to have in place by January 1, 1996 a program to test employees and applicants for employment who are required to possess a commercial drivers license for drug and alcohol influence; and WHEPdgAS, the financial cost to the City of implementing a drug and alcohol testing program in conformance with federally mandated requirements will be significant and unpredictable, unless the City participates with other jurisdictions in a joint program; and WHEREAS, the Association of Washington Cities CAWC") has formed a "Drug and Alcohol Testing Consortium" to defray local costs, to provide a routine testing program, and to provide and contract with lab facilities to implement federal mandates, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council for the City of Port Townsend resolves as follows: The Council agrees that the City should participate in the AWC Consortium as defined in the attached materials and directs that City departments that hire employees having commercial drivers licenses propose adequate funding in their 1996 proposed budgets to implement the AWC program. The Mayor is directed and authorized to sign the AWC Agreement in substantially the form attached hereto.
