COUNTY OF UNIMPROVED LAND IN THE PORT TOWNSEND ORIGINAL
TOWNSITE AND AUTHORIZING THE ACTING TREASURER TO ISSUE
WARRANTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE LAND

Jefferson County is the owner of partial Lots 6 and 8 in
Block 40 of the Port Townsend Original Townsite which
have been declared to be surplus land by the Board of
County Commissioners; and
Jefferson County has offered to sell said lots to the
City for $42,000, and to finance 80% of the purchase by
way of a promissory note secured by a deed of trust; and
These adjoining lots abut Tyler Street in the downtown
business district; and
The purchase of the lots will leave open the option of
using this space for a downtown parking facility and such
option would be lost if the lots were to be sold by the
County for private development; and
The lots also have significant value to the City for
stormwater control purposes; and
It is the finding of the City Council that the selling
price does not exceed the fair market value of the lots,
as determined by the Jefferson County Assessor, and that
the terms of sale are acceptable
N O W T H E R E F O R E
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND
that it authorizes the Mayor to sign such documents and take such
action as may be necessary to complete the purchase from Jefferson
County of partial Lots 6 and 8 in Block 40 of the Port Townsend
Original Townsite for $42,000, with 80% of the purchase price
financed by way of a promissory note bearing interest at 8% per
annum, fully amortized over 15 years, and secured by a deed of
trust for the benefit of Jefferson County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Acting Treasurer is authorized to
issue the warrants necessary to complete the purchase of the land
described herein.
Adopted by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend and signed
by the Mayor this 18th day ember, 1995.
